Leukaemia and Lymphoma

Leukaemia and Lymphoma are both forms of blood cancer, however, they both affect the body in different ways: Leukaemia affects the blood and bone marrow, while Lymphomas mainly affect the lymph nodes.

What are the symptoms?

The symptoms of Leukaemia and Lymphoma vary depending on the form of the disease and can affect different areas of the body to different extents.

Cause and treatment

Leukaemia and Lymphomas are cancers that affect the body’s blood-forming tissues. The exact cause of these conditions is unknown and can vary from patient to patient.

Like other forms of cancer, Leukaemia and Lymphoma are often treated using chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgeries – all of which can result in additional side effects.

Evidence suggests that medical cannabis may be useful in managing symptoms associated with cancer treatments such as Cancer-Related Pain, Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting, and Cancer-Related Appetite Loss.

Medical Cannabis, Leukaemia and Lymphoma

Medical cannabis has been found to be beneficial for a number of symptoms associated with terminal conditions, including Leukaemia and Lymphoma. There is growing evidence that medical cannabis can also be useful for the management of Chronic Pain – a symptom associated with many terminal conditions.

Our specialist physicians are experienced in assessing individual cases and helping to determine the correct therapy for each patient. In some cases, medical cannabis may be useful in cases of palliative care where traditional treatments have failed to offer relief.
